Quick facts
- Allowance
- Up to $300 per half-year; $600 per year
- Reset schedule
- January–June and July–December
- Enrollment / payment
- Automatic for eligible prepaid Amex Travel bookings
How to use the benefit
- Search Amex Travel and identify a qualifying FHR or THC booking.
- Compare the entire stay price with a realistic alternative.
- Prepay using the eligible Platinum account with remaining credit.
- Allow processing time before the half-year deadline; the stay itself can take place later.
Restrictions and mistakes to avoid
- Pay-at-property bookings do not qualify for this prepaid credit.
- The purchase must be processed in the relevant window.
- Cancellation or refunds can reverse the credit. An unused first-half allowance does not become extra second-half capacity.
What is it actually worth?
A $750 stay minus a $300 credit costs $450. If your comparable alternative is $400, the credit alone has not saved you money. Add breakfast or property benefits only if you would use them, and do not count a property credit as cash you can spend anywhere.
These examples are hypothetical. Use the purchases you would have made anyway, include remaining charges, and avoid counting the same saving twice.
Common questions
Do I need to stay before June 30 or December 31?
The eligible prepaid booking must be processed in the benefit window; the stay can be later.
Can one booking use all $600?
No. The benefit is capped at $300 in each calendar half.
